Heavens Above carries winning form into the Epona Stakes and remains outright $3.80 favourite in betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of All Cerise ($4.40) and Sweet Fire ($7.50).

Will Heavens Above justify favouritism and win the 2016 Epona Stakes or will one of her talented rivals find the line in the clear?

All Cerise ($4.40)

All Cerise has returned to racing in particularly slick form this time, will carry a very manageable 54kgs and will leave from the ideal barrier 3 in the 2016 Epona Stakes. Posting a commendable career total of six wins and as many minors through twenty-eight starts so far, the Redoute’s Choice mare charged home to win the Cellarbrations BM76 (1550m) on December 11th; progressing to wins in each of her next three starts before running second in the Group 3 Aspiration Quality (1600m) a fortnight ago. Notable hoop Dwayne Dunn takes the ride on the five-year-old this weekend.

Alegria ($9)

Godolphin runner Alegria has found strong and consistent form this time and could very well receive the run of the race in the 2016 Epona Stakes from the rails draw. Finishing outside the first three only a handful of times in twelve career starts, the Medaglia D’oro mare placed a credible fifth in the Group 3 Belle Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) on January 8th before placing second in the Gifts.com.au BM85 (1600m) and third in the Aspiration Quality. Tim Clark will take the ride on the four-year-old who will have no issue performing with only 54kgs in tow.

Vergara ($10)

Vergara is a proven performer at the track and class of the Epona Stakes and is worth consideration for a bet at current $10 odds for success or $3.20 to finish in the first three. Resuming for fourth in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes (1200m) on February 13th, the Snippetson mare progressed to fourth in the Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) before placing ninth in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) last weekend. Sure to enjoy a step back in class and step up in distance, Vergara has been confirmed to be partnered by Daniel Moor in the Epona Stakes.
